It is an often overlooked New Testament letter, but it shouldn’t be. The story of Paul’s plea to Philemon in behalf of Onesimus, the runaway slave, is a beautiful demonstration of what we so desperately need, the gift of God’s grace.

Why is blood so important in God’s plan of redemption? Why was the shedding of Jesus’ blood essential for our salvation?
When we consider what it means to be lost eternally, surely we hope to be saved from our sins.
We all make mistakes but sometimes we don’t deal with them appropriately. God’s word helps us to understand forgiveness and teaches us that through love, humility and faith in God, all things can work together for good!
To become more like God, we must seek to have His attitude and will to forgive anyone who has hurt us in any way.
Of all the great work Jesus accomplished while on the earth, He reserved His greatest work for the cross itself, exemplified in His prayer for those nailing the nails. And that includes us.
The Bible is filled with examples of those who overcame failure to become success stories in the Lord’s work. They were given a second chance. Not only have we been given second chances, we must also offer them to others.
While Paul was throughly convinced of his salvation in Christ, he still viewed himself as “the chief of sinners.” As the greatest proclaimer and defender of the faith other than the Lord Himself, what value could there be in giving himself this familiar title? What does he intend for us to learn, and to apply?
